User Guide

Step-by-step instructions for safely installing, configuring and maintaining your Only Volt LiFePOβ‚„ battery system.

⚠️ Safety Precautions

⚠️ Important: Always read all safety instructions before installation. Incorrect wiring can damage the battery, inverter, or cause injury.
  • !
Professional Installation Recommended β€” Only Volt recommends having a qualified electrician perform the installation.
  • !
No Reverse Polarity β€” Connecting B+ to B- or reversing cell sampling cables will permanently damage the BMS.
  • !
Anti-Static Handling β€” Handle the BMS board with care. Avoid touching components directly.
  • !
Waterproof Your Installation β€” Keep all connections dry. Use proper IP-rated enclosures outdoors.
  • !
No Series Connection β€” Multiple Only Volt battery packs should NEVER be connected in series.

πŸ”Œ Wiring Guide

Critical: Follow the wiring sequence exactly. Incorrect order may damage the BMS.

Wiring Sequence (Power On)

  • 1
Connect Bβˆ’ (battery negative) to the BMS Bβˆ’ terminal first
  • 2
    Connect cell sampling cables in ascending order: B0 β†’ B1 β†’ B2 β†’ ... β†’ B16
  • 3
Connect NTC temperature sensor cables to their ports
  • 4
    Connect B+ (battery positive) last
  • 5
Connect load (inverter) and charger to Pβˆ’ and P+ terminals
  • 6
Close the on/off switch to activate β€” charge or press button to initialize

Disconnection Sequence

  • 1
    Disconnect charger and load first
  • 2
    Remove cell sampling cables in descending order: B16 β†’ B15 β†’ ... β†’ B0
  • 3
    Remove Bβˆ’ last
On/Off Switch: Two wires must be shorted together to power ON. Open the connection to power OFF (enters deep sleep β€” no charge/discharge).

πŸ”— Inverter Connection

Only Volt batteries support communication with major inverter brands via RS485 or CAN protocols.

Compatible Inverters

  • βœ“
Deye β€” RS485, SMA mode or PYLON protocol
  • βœ“
SOFAR β€” RS485 or CAN communication
  • βœ“
Growatt β€” RS485 or CAN protocol
  • βœ“
    Voltronic / Axpert β€” RS485 communication
  • βœ“
PYLON TECH compatible β€” Lithium battery protocol mode

RS485 Connection

Default baud rate: 9600bps. Connect from BMS communication board RS485-1 port to inverter BMS/battery port using the included RS485 patch cord.

CAN Connection

Default rate: 500K. Use the CAN port on the communication board. Configure your inverter to "Lithium Battery" or "BMS" mode and select the appropriate protocol.

πŸ“± BMS Meta App Setup

Download the App

  • 1
Search "BMS Meta" on Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS)
  • 2
Alternatively, scan the QR code on the BMS board label or visit www.anayatech.com
  • 3
Install and open the BMS Meta app on your smartphone

Connecting via Bluetooth

  • 1
Ensure the battery BMS is powered on (on/off switch closed)
  • 2
Open BMS Meta app β†’ tap "Connect" β†’ scan for devices
  • 3
Select your battery from the device list
  • 4
View live data: voltage, current, temperature, SOC, SOH, and protection status

What You Can Monitor

  • πŸ“Š
Individual cell voltages, overall pack voltage, charge/discharge current
  • 🌑️
Cell temperatures, environment temperature, MOS temperature
  • πŸ”‹
SOC (State of Charge), SOH (State of Health), remaining capacity
  • βš™οΈ
Modify protection thresholds, toggle balance, adjust parameters (advanced)

⚑ First Activation & Capacity Learning

Important for new batteries: Perform a capacity learning cycle before daily use to ensure accurate SOC readings.
  • 1
After wiring, close the on/off switch to power on the BMS
  • 2
The BMS will show a low SOC initially β€” this is normal
  • 3
Discharge the battery fully until under-voltage protection triggers
  • 4
Charge the battery fully until over-voltage protection triggers
  • 5
The BMS will now have learned the true Full Charge Capacity (FCC)
  • 6
SOC readings will now be accurate for daily use

πŸ”„ Parallel Battery Setup (Multi-Pack)

Only Volt batteries support up to 20 packs in parallel using the automatic dial (Auto DIP) feature.

Before parallel connection: Ensure all packs have voltage difference less than 3V.
  • 1
Set all DIP switches to OFF position on all BMS units
  • 2
Connect RS485 network cables: Main β†’ Pack 2 (Link Port OUT β†’ Link Port IN), Pack 2 β†’ Pack 3, etc.
  • 3
    Power on all battery packs
  • 4
Turn OFF the main BMS on/off switch β€” all packs should shut off
  • 5
Turn ON the main BMS β€” all packs will start simultaneously
  • 6
Wait ~20 seconds for auto address assignment to complete
  • 7
Main BMS will display average SOC; slave packs show only RUN indicator

πŸ› οΈ Maintenance Tips

  • βœ“
Keep battery terminals clean and tight β€” check every 6 months
  • βœ“
Ensure adequate ventilation β€” operating temperature -20Β°C to +75Β°C
  • βœ“
Avoid exposing batteries to direct sunlight or rain
  • βœ“
Monitor cell balance via BMS Meta app regularly
  • βœ“
Perform full charge-discharge cycle every 3 months for optimal calibration
  • βœ“
Store at 50–60% SOC if not in use for extended periods

πŸ” Troubleshooting

?

No voltage output after installation

Check wiring sequence β€” ensure Bβˆ’ is connected first and on/off switch is closed. Activate by connecting a charger.

?

Battery won't charge

Check for over-temperature or overcharge protection. Verify charger voltage is correct for your pack (16 Γ— 3.65V = 58.4V for 48V pack).

?

Low SOC reading on new battery

Perform a full capacity learning cycle: discharge to under-voltage, then charge to over-voltage.

?

Buzzer beeping

Fault: beeps every 1s. Protection: every 2s. Alarm: every 3s. Check BMS Meta app for specific fault code.

?

Active balance not working

Active balance is only configurable via PC software or color touch screen. Check balance settings in BMS Meta app.

?

Cannot connect to app

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and battery BMS is powered on. Try restarting both the app and the BMS (toggle on/off switch).

?

Parallel packs not auto-addressing

Check RS485 cable orientation (OUT to IN). Ensure all DIP switches are OFF. Repeat the on/off cycle as per parallel setup guide.
